| Formerly called the Museum of Chinese-American History (MCAH), this dynamic institution is the first museum in Southern California dedicated to the experience and history of Chinese Americans in this region. Let ITS add a visit to CAM on your Los Angles tour itinerary, or when ITS carries your party to El Pueblo de Los Angeles Monument, as the Chinese-American Museum is situated within the monument grounds and housed in the last-surviving and oldest structure in Los Angeles' original Chinatown. Illustrating over 150 years of Chinese immigrant history, this rich 7,200 square foot storehouse of artifacts and family heirlooms from the Chinese American community tells a uniquely American, and Southern California story. Rich cultural artifacts and exhibits, including oral history from elderly denizens of the old Chinatown, family photographs and letters, antique furnishings, herbal store fixtures, furnishings and supplies, toddler's toys and traditional wedding gowns as well as educational programs and events make this evocative venue important to understanding the cultural mosaic of the region, and fostering a deeper appreciation of the contributions of the Chinese American community.
