The combined efforts of a group of Japanese American businessman in Los Angeles' famed Little Tokyo and a group of veterans from the renowned and highly decorated 442nd Regimental combat Team came together to found the Japanese American National Museum. Situated in a landmark building built in 1925 as the first Buddhist Temple in LA, the museum has been open since 1992. Artifacts, letters, furniture, photographs, oral histories, bridal clothes help to tell the story of the Japanese American experience. Community projects and traveling exhibits are integral to the museum and guarantee there is always something interesting to experience.
